we went to our home church for the first time yesterday. my d-group will be attending the First Presbyterian Church of Daytona Beach. it's super different from my home church but i think it will be a great place to call 'home' for the summer. every week, i'll be teaching sunday school there to some high school students, attending a worship service and sharing lunch with the gracious church families that open up their homes to us. i'm really excited to serve this church community and to get to know them better! you can be praying for the high school students that some of us will be leading; i feel like i will grow pretty close to this one girl, Susan. she just graduated from high school and will be attending Daytona State University in the fall. i'm hoping to provide her with a good perspective on what it's like to be a christian in college. my teaching partners and i will definitely be challenged by this ministry and would love your prayer support as we undertake this task of teaching and building friendships!
today i spent the day job hunting. it is HARD. all of us are trying to keep the perspective that we were brought here intentionally and the God has a place for us. i have a couple of good options at this point and am hoping to have a job secured tomorrow. we will see...i'm trying to be patient and faithful!
thank you so much for your continued prayers. this first week of project has definitely been a challenge and just a taste of all of the challenges that this summer has in store :)
